Motorcycle engines are a different environment
In most motorcycles a single oil lubricates the engine, gearbox and a wet clutch that runs immersed in it. Car engine oils can contain friction modifiers that make a wet clutch slip. That is why motorcycle oils carry their own JASO classification alongside the SAE grade.
What to check before you buy
Verify the JASO classification of any specific product on its official technical data sheet before use.
- SAE grade from your bike's manual — 10W-30, 10W-40 and 20W-40 are common in Bangladesh.
- JASO MA/MA2 for wet-clutch motorcycles; JASO MB only where scooters specify it.
- 4-stroke vs 2-stroke — completely different products, never interchangeable.
- Authenticity — buy from an authorized dealer to avoid counterfeit oil.
